About 3B Survey
Our History
3B Survey is a privately owned oilfield service company that has been in operation since 2007. Founded by Martin Cooper, who has over 30 years of professional experience in the international oil and gas market and initially starting with a small team in Aberdeen, Scotland, 3B Survey has grown significantly over the years.
Our main operations were relocated in 2008 to tap into and support the ever-growing Australian market. With offices now in Perth, Melbourne, Darwin and Houston, 3B is still present within multiple locations and can mobilise as required.
Our company specializes in dimensional control surveying and laser scanning, but can assist with other services. Over the years, 3B Survey has expanded its workforce and services, maintaining a focus on safety and cost-effectiveness in all major projects.
OUR SAFETY RECORD
From humble beginnings in 2007 with a staff of two surveyors and a crew of six riggers and welders in Aberdeen, to a worldwide staff of over 100, we are proud to say that in that time, 3B have had ZERO LTIs and ZERO accidents in the field.
On the Marlin B project in Batam we recorded almost 8000 man hours again with ZERO LTIs and ZERO accidents.
It is a record 3B management are rightly proud of and one which everyone at 3B intend to maintain.

Our globally experienced team has extensive experience in working within complex environments including offshore platforms, remote sites, and challenging terrains. From global companies to local operations, we have the expertise to deliver surveying services for projects of all types and sizes.
LEADERSHIP TEAM
Martin began his surveying career in the North Sea and first went offshore at the tender age of 17. As Managing Director of 3B, Martin heads up a global operation leading major surveying projects across the world including USA, Australia, Equatorial Guinea and the Mediterranean.
Anth joined 3B Survey in Australia in 2009 and became Director in 2015. With over 30 years’ experience in Dimensional Control, Anth is integral in the training and mentoring of our junior surveying team. Anthony has worked on projects all over the world, enjoying the opportunity to travel while embracing any work challenge that comes his way.
Jane is 3B Survey’s Finance Manager and has been an essential member of our team for over 10 years. Qualified with a Degree in Business & Humanities, Jane is driven to learn new things and is always up for a challenge.
Andrew is qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Construction, Design and Management from RGU Aberdeen Scotland. He has worked alongside Martin for nearly 20 years in Oil & Gas surveying and has been a part of the 3B team since our inception in 2008. As Fabrication Manager, Andrew leads the fabrication side of the business and has worked across projects all over the world.
Mark is qualified in Surveying and Engineering and has over 30 years’ Oil & Gas experience. Launching his career in the UK where he worked in both fabrication and offshore surveying, Mark is no stranger to challenging environments having spent time in the North Sea. After many years of travel, Mark settled in Western Australia and is an essential member of our team as Survey Manager.
Fabrizio is Scanning Manager at 3B Survey and is a qualified Civil Engineer with a PhD in Geomatics. Fabrizio first worked in offshore surveying in 2007, in the Caspian Sea, before moving to Australia in 2012. Fabrizio is a specialist in his field and takes a strong interest in laser scanning and photogrammetry, ensuring 3B utilizes the latest software and digital tools when supporting our clients’ projects.
